No one doubts that Moravian winemakers can produce great white wines with long-term ageing potential. Moravian red wines are often wrongly judged by the public for their potential and quality. We are convinced that even certain blue varieties, planted in suitable locations, can compete with the world’s red wines with the right approach. For example, the Frankovka or Pinot Noir varieties, historically linked to Czech and Moravian winemaking, prove how great red wines can be produced in South Moravia. It was no different with our Frankovka 2020 “Single barrel”, which comes from a vineyard sight Šusfeldy and was aged for 12 months in a new barrel from France. In the photo, we are currently reducing the grape crop to Pinot Noir. Grape reduction is one of the most important factors in making a great red wine, as the vine puts all its energy into the few grapes left. The grapes ripen and colour better, and the wine is then fuller with a more pronounced aroma.

There is a lot going on in the vineyard at the moment. We are cultivating the vines, defoliating the grape zone and eliminating the weeds in the inter-vine zone.
